New talents in National Juniors

Established names like Nabil, Roshan, Mark Siew, Nabila, and Najiha were beating opponents left and right but there were new talents too at the National Juniors.

They are:-

Teh Wee Zhun - finished fourth. Gilocatur refered to him as "strong unrated" player before Teh(26th seed) beat Saleh Fikri(17th seed) in the last round.

Teh is currently doing Accounting and MIS in Sunway Universty.


Young, talented and unrated Yee Jiang Yang seeded 29 but finished 9th place.

Nabil wins NJCC 2011

Muhd Nabil becomes 2011 National Junior Master with his win over Yee Jiang Yang in the final round. He finishes the tournament with 8/9.

In Round 7 of the National Juniors 2011, joint leader Roshan Ajeet Singh is slowed down by Yat Guo Jie when both drew their games.

2011 Sarawak Open Chess Championship

2011 Sarawak Open Chess Championship will be held from 12-16 December 2011 at Ultimate Professional Centre, 3rd Floor, Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching, Kuching. This FIDE-rated and National rated tournament offers
a Champion prize of RM2,500 and some prizes for juniors.

 

There are two amendments to the one previously released:

a.   Woman International Masters, International Masters and above are
not required to pay entrance fee.

b.   Players may register on line at http://pk4.my and view registered

Pairing

Any player who does not turn up for more than two rounds without giving good reasons would be considered withdrawn from the tournament.

Recording is compulsory throughout the game

The time control is 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment per move.

Conduct of players

No smoking, no hand phone and no analysis of games are allowed in the tournament hall.

Immediately after each game, the winners or the drawers playing white have to return the score sheets and chess clocks to the arbiter while the opponents have to rearrange back the pieces.
