Jax Tham Wins Again In First Saturday Classical Chess April 2010

Jax Tham outsmarted the field of 11 players at the First Saturday Classical Chess held over two days, 10-11th April 2010 at the Excel Chess Academy, Overseas Union Garden, Kuala Lumpur. Jax ended with 6.0 full points from six rounds of play.

In second place is NorAzman Ismail with 4.5 points from six possible points. Third was Balachandran with 4.0 points and in fourth place is Yat Guo Jie with 3.5 points. In fifth place was Tin Jun Hao with 3.5 points too!

Malaysian Chess Festival 2010, 28 August - 8 September 2010

THE MALAYSIAN CHESS FESTIVAL

The annual Malaysian Chess Festival will take place from 28th August 2010 to 08 September 2010 at the CitiTel MidValley Hotel, MidValley MegaMall, Kuala Lumpur. For those below 16 years old, there will be a National Age-Group. There will be several categories from Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 to Under-16. We encourage parents to register their children for this high profile chess event and make our very own Malaysian Chess Festival 2010 a success!

Jax Tham Wins The March Rapids, 27th March 2010

On Saturday, the Excel Chess Academy ran the March Rapids Chess Tournament at OUG, Kuala Lumpur with 16 registered players. As most of the games completed very fast per round, parents of the children desired for a one-day tournament instead.

Jax Tham, ever willing to hear and comply with the wishes of parents, relented and agreed to turn it into a one-day tournament. And so the supposedly two-day tournament turn out to be a one-day affair.

Jax Tham (picture) won the 10 round rapids with 9.0 points. Lim Zhou Ren ended with second position with the same 9.0 points but weaker tie-break points. In third place was Tham Chee Leong, Jax’s son, with 8.0 points. Fourth place is Chang Chye Tan with 7.0 and fifth was Tan Jia Hong, also with 7.0 points.
