Group Chess Session

Excel Chess Academy is organising weekly group chess night classes during the week for two category of players. The two categories are as follows:-
A. players below N.R. 1400;
B. players above N.R. 1400;

For the group A. players will have classes on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm;
While the group B. players will have classes on Friday nights from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm;

First Saturday Classical Chess 2010, February Edition, 6-7 February 2010 (Friendly Reminder)

The First Saturday Classical Chess 2010 for the February Edition will resume next month on the 6th-7th February 2010.

The organiser of FSCC have been informed that Yeoh Li Tian has confirmed his participation in the coming edition of the First Saturday Classical Chess, February 2010 Edition at the Excel Chess Academy.

Players that will be participating for the Malaysia-Singapore Chess Challenge in mid-February 2010 are strongly encouraged to participate in this FSCC 2010 February 2010 edition as a warm-up to their preparation.

Yeoh Li Tian Wins The Thaipusam Rapid 2010

At the Excel Chess Academy, Yeoh Li Tian scored an unprecedented 9.0 points out of a possible ten in the Thaipusam Rapid 2010 (10.20.30) on the second day of the tournament, 31st January 2010.

Only Mohd Fadli Zakaria was able to stop Yeoh Li Tian from taking a clean sweep of the maximum ten points from the ten rounds of rapid chess play.

Mohd Fadli Zakaria won second with 8.5 points, Jax Tham won third place with 8.0 points, Lim Zho Ren in fourth with 7.0 points and Low Jun Jian in fifth with 6.5 points.

Congratulations to Yeoh Li Tian and all winners and participating players for making the Thaipusam Rapid 2010 a success!!

7th Round Pairing, 6th Round Results, Thaipusam Rapid 2010, 31st January 2010

Here at the Excel Chess Academy, in the sixth round, Stonemaster stopped the juggernaut, Yeoh Li Tian, from steamrolling everyone in the Thaipusam Rapid 2010 on the second day of the tournament, 31st January 2010.

Muhd Fadli Zakaria jumps to second place with 4.5 points. However, Yeoh Li Tian is still the strong favourite and current leader at 5.0 points from six rounds.

Come catch the action at the Excel Chess Academy to watch Malaysia’s chess prodigy, Yeoh Li Tian, steam rolling in this Thaipusam Rapid 2010. Looks like his stint in China is paying dividends in his chess prowess and ability to win against stronger opponents than him.

At the end of the first day of the Thaipusam Rapid 2010, 30th January 2010 at the Excel Chess Academy, Overseas Union Garden, Kuala Lumpur, the outstanding Yeoh Li Tian is the leader with the full 5.0 points from five rounds of play.

In his wake of victims included Lim Zhou Ren, Joshua Foong, Jax Tham, and Yeoh Li Tian has not finished yet.
